If you’ve been looking closely, you might’ve noticed something familiar in my last two posts. Among the Duo40 and DSS keycap photos, I included shots of an upcoming project: DSS Neon Nights R2. Today I’m going to chat about the project, and later I’ll come back and update this page as the project progresses. Introduction
Designer Trashman first put DSS Neon Nights on group buy in September 2020. He did it as a 40s-only run, which took me by surprise — when I first got my DSS Neon Nights set off r/mechmarket, I had just started collecting and didn’t know that 40s-only keycap runs existed! You can imagine my despair when I realized I couldn’t mount it on any of my keyboards.
For years, I yearned for a TKL-size DSS Neon Nights set. And you know I’m a DSS-pusher; I have to spread the word! So I’ve decided to give an extended, full-size rerun a shot.
The Plan

The idea is simple: hew closely to DSS Neon Nights R1 while expanding the set to accommodate different layouts. Like R1, the material will be ABS, and all colors/legends in R2 are the same as in R1.

(feat. Signature Plastics’ ABS)
Additions/changes from the original are the orange F-row (Signature Plastics RET) and full numrow with sublegends, plus alt numrow kit (to replicate the look of the original 40s set), extension kit, numpad kit, 40s kit, and ISO kit.

Kitting

In October, I ran an IC for DSS Neon Nights R2 (it’s still up — feel free to submit comments!). After making some changes to kitting based on IC responses, I’ve arrived at the following (kitting renders are forthcoming):

Renders
