This week’s build has deep, retro roots: MM Studio’s Class series of keyboards— including this retro white Class65 v3— leans heavily into classic aesthetics, and these MTNU 800 OS2.0 keycaps were inspired by the Atari 800. Paired together, they look straight out of 1979.

MTNU profile is a particularly good fit for this theme, IMO; its spherical divots and Son of a Doubleshot font, taken together with the set’s cream, orange, yellow, and brown color palette, transport me to the 70s. The set has strong vintage-UPS energy.

(long live Paul Rand’s logo…!)

(…though we also love the logos from 1919 and 1937 in this house. We don’t talk about 2003.)
I’m new to MTNU, but I’m impressed by this set. I like the sculpt quite a bit, and I’m glad to see another sculpted spherical profile gain traction (besides my beloved DSS, which is criminally underproduced…)

Like one of designer Matt3o’s other keycap profiles, PBS, MTNU’s divots are deep with rounded edges, which gives MTNU an almost orthotic feel.

These deep divots also help with typing accuracy; although the keycaps are very smooth (slippery to me, similar to KAM’s, KAT’s, or PBS’s texture), the divots ensure you’re not sliding about and guide your fingertips to the center of the key.

And unlike other sculpted spherical profiles, which are generally produced in ABS, MTNU is produced using 100% PBT. That’s right, doubleshot legends in 100% PBT. Variety is good!

All in all, MTNU 800 OS2.0 is an excellent set, especially if you can pair it with some big beige bezels like the Class65’s. If you’re looking for something #sculpted, #spherical, #retro, and #purePBT, grab a set of extras while they last!
