This week I’m talking about KBDFans 65% keyboard, Dusk67.

Introduction
Dusk67 is a 65% board from Chinese company KBDFans. It was released in August 2024, is in stock, and at $114 base price, is one of the most affordable keyboards with a wooden case on the market. I have been curious about wooden cases for a while, so I was really excited to try this board out.

Specs
Dusk67 has a case entirely made of walnut wood, and it has a small golden accent around the USB-C port. It is 300mm wide and 125.8mm deep, its lowest point is 20mm tall, and its highest point is 33mm tall. Its typing angle is 7°, and it has a 1.6mm non-flex-cut ANSI or ISO PCB with a caps lock LED indicator, or a 1.2mm ANSI PCB, with a daughter board. Its PCB supports VIA, and buyers have a choice of aluminum, carbon fiber, FR4, or polycarbonate non-flex-cut plates. KBDFans offers a 330mm x 77.6mm matching wrist rest for an additional $15.

Impression
I’ve always wanted to try a wooden case, and I was drawn to Dusk67’s walnut case as soon as I saw it. I was really pleased with the price and quality of the case; the board costs about $115 (base price), setup is a breeze, and the wood tone and texture is beautiful and even. No rough edges or natural imperfections at all; it is a smooth, unvarnished walnut, and the color is really rich in person.

Dusk67 is very lightweight and very quiet. The wooden case mutes the board’s sound, especially when compared to the resonance of a metal or even a polycarbonate board. The board’s sound is softened even further by the silicone pad that fits between the plate and the PCB. The silicone pad also absorbs a lot of energy from each keypress, so the typing feel–like the sound– is muted. Not a lot of vibration or resonance with this board.

I was pleasantly surprised by the back as well; it has a striking engraving that gives the board a little zhuzh.

Takeaway
Dusk67 is #wooden, #quiet, #lightweight, and #beginner-friendly. I think Dusk67 would be great for an #earthy or #witchy build, or for a #silent build. I love how it looks with Osume Marshmallow Zen keycaps, but I could see it going well with so many other sets (GMK Botanical, GMK Dandy, PBTFans Emma, Keykobo Boundless Jakata…) I haven’t seen many wooden boards at this price point, so if you’re looking for a lovely walnut case and a muted sound signature and press feel, give Dusk67 a try.
